The Mercury MerCruiser T8200 Tow Sport Inboard is a powerful engine designed specifically for watersports.
Built on an 8.2L V8 big-block platform, it’s engineered to deliver the high horsepower and torque needed to power the largest tow sport boats, with options for 380hp and 430hp.
Tow Sport Performance
This engine is optimized for watersports with a specialized transmission and engine calibration. It is tuned to get heavy boats loaded with ballast and people out of the water quickly and keep them on plane at low tow speeds, down to 8 mph. The class-leading torque of the T8200 enhances control and helps generate a surfable wake.
The T8200 seamlessly integrates with Mercury’s Smart Tow and Joystick Piloting systems. These digital controls simplify everything from launching riders to maintaining a consistent speed for a perfect wake. The Adaptive Speed Control feature helps maintain engine RPM despite changes in load or conditions, making it easier to climb large swells and carve tight turns.

Like other MerCruiser engines, the T8200 is built with a focus on durability and reliability. It features a closed, freshwater cooling system and premium corrosion-preventive technologies to protect against harsh marine environments. The Engine Guardian system, which monitors over 40 sensors, provides an extra layer of confidence by automatically adjusting engine functions if a problem is detected. Additionally, a powerful 70-amp alternator ensures ample charging output for the boat’s many electronic accessories, such as sound systems and large screens.
